Gecko anal problem
Gecko has something hanging out of its bum. it is about 3/4 inch long and it is red and is bloody. what would cause this and what should we do . Thanks for the help . pic is attached .

Oh no, that is not good. It is a prolapse, hon. I cannot tell if it is a intestinal, colon or hemepenal prolapse.
What do you use for substrate in his tank? If you have a loose substrate, please take that out & put in just paper towels.
At the moment, what you need to do is mix some sugar, approximately 1-2 tablespoons up in some warm water to dissolve it then add cool water & soak him in it. That solution may help to reduce some of the swelling so it might be able to go back in on its own. Then, get some ky jelly to put on the area to keep it moist so it doesn't dry out.
You will most likely have to get to a vet because the area may become necrotic & or infected & will die & need to be amputated. This is imperative though, he most likely will not make it if that is not taken care of quickly.
There are several things that can cause a prolapse. A heavy load of parasites or worms that are interfering with his ability to pass food through or go to the bathroom, an intestinal blockage or impaction which causes him to strain too hard to try & pass it when going to the bathroom.
Did you try to breed him with a female?
How old is he?
