Question

little skinny perhaps
Hi Tracie...
I tried to contact you by email but your email does not
appear to be working so im trying on here (hope i dont get
you into trouble!)

We got the dragon - a female i have named Cleo short for
Cleopatra - over a month ago  but we did have a few problems
when we got her. The first thing i noticed was her skin was
wrinkled and i know this could be a sign of dehydration.
Also i was holding her one night and noticed a clicking
sound and i panicked (obviously now i'm completely paranoid
after all those gecko deaths) and rang the vets and made an
appointment.
Saw the vet (a very jolly chap who obviously loves reptiles)
and he had a look at her. He took an x-ray to check for
eggs, how her bones were etc but couldnt see anything wrong.
He didnt do much else really only try to prize her mouth
open to look down her throat for blockages (brave man!)
Anyway little Cleo came away with a clean bill of health
which did assure me a little. I was told to combat the
possible dehydration with bathing which i have kept up but
her skin still looks dehydrated to me. I have included a pic
of her skin to see what you think. Otherwise she is a very
happy lizard who loves crickets (and will now only eat
crickets no veg>)
Sorry forgot to say she is about a year old. I hope you dont
think im begging for your advise here but what would you do
with a dragon who only wants crickets? I tried just leaving
her with veg for a few days but then she doesnt eat at all
and gets skinny. In fact at the moment she still looks like
a skinny little thing but has a huge appetite for crickets.
She prob manages to eat around 300 a week. Obviously all
crics are dusted with calcium and once a week with D3
powder. I am at a brick wall over the cricket problem
though. Hope you can help?
In the afternoons i have no peace unless i get her out
since she has discovered how to glass dance and will scratch
continuously like a crazed lunatic at her glass doors until
i get her out for "play time."
I actully think sometimes she  has a mental problem because
she just acts so crazy pacing up and down the doors and
scraping her claws on the glass to get my attention. I cave
in like she knows i will and let her have two hours out of
the tank. Then come the evening she is out for the world and
very sleepy and lazy in the mornings too.
Her favourite places to be (i have discovered to my cost)
are on the top of my head, which can get painful, and by the
window so she can watch the world go by. Her favourite foods
are crickets and waxworms. Although she doesnt get many
waxworms as i keep these as treats.
Well here are some pics of her - tell me what you think and
if she could pass for a size zero haha!
Also i dont suppose you know what it could mean if you hold
a dragon and kind of feel a strange rumbling when she
breathes? I do hope this isnt a RI although i dont think it
could be as i keep her very dry in her tank and with warm
end ground temp of 110 degrees F. I obviously wait 2 or 3
hours after bath time before i turn off her lights.
Will be great to hear back from you Tracie!!
Best wishes from Jess and Cleo :)

Answer
Hello Jessica,

Oh you might have used my old email possibly.  We changed servers & I have a new email.  It is:
Drache_613@hotmail.com

Yes you do have a problem with Cleo, she has discovered crickets!  LOL
Oh no, she loves waxworms, too?  What she has probably done is started making up for lost time as she may not have gotten enough food previously before you got her.
Actually, she looks pretty good not too thin really.  She is definitely going through the crickets!  LOL
How much does she weigh?  How long is she?
Which UVB are you using?
It sounds like she has you trained so she can get out of her tank, scratching on the glass, etc to get your attention!  They are really very intelligent.
How often do you hear or feel a rumble type of noise when she breathes?  Does she have the clicking noise all of the time, or mainly at night?  Have you noticed any type of mucous or discharge in or around her mouth or nose?
It probably isn't a respiratory infection though, but some breathe differently than others.  Do you hear it mainly at night, or some during the day?  At night, if you listen real closely while they are sleeping, you can hear a clicking type of noise.  That is actually the glottis opening & closing as they breathe.

As for getting her to eat the veggies, all you can really do is keep trying to offer them to her, while decreasing the crickets slowly & gradually.  You could try putting a few worms in with the greens & veggies to see if that entices her, or a few pieces of fruit.
She sounds so sweet, too!
