Question
hey,
i was wondering what the eggs from a leopard gecko look like when they come out of the female, how large are they, color, ect!

also i wanted to know if the male or female would eat the babies, i know i have to put the babies in a seperate cage after they hatch, but will they eat them???  how do i introduce the grown babies to there parents do i???

And i was wondering what temp. you set the thermometer and hhydrometer for the eggs, i want mostly femals but a few males????
thank you, Mackenzie!

Answer
Hello Mackenzie,
The eggs that are fertile will look white to cream in color oval shaped & feel like a marshmallow.  Do not handle them too much, just remove them & place them in the incubator.  I would incubate around 84 or so.  They will take anywhere from 30-105 to hatch depending on the temperature.  Be careful though not to go over 90 or you could have them die from heat failure.
The eggs will barely be 1-1.5 inches long.  They are tiny.
The parents may eat or attack the babies, so you can never put them in with the adults, ever.  You really should be careful introducing the babies with the adults until they are roughly the same size.
Then, you have to watch if they are ever around each other that they don't breed, otherwise, that would be inbreeding!  LOL
So yes, you will need to put the babies in a separate tank, & watch them closely to make sure they do not fight, etc, otherwise you will have to separate into a few groups.
Well, I am not sure how accurate it is, but they say that temperatures below 85 are more prone to being female & temps 85-89 might be more prone to being male.  Sometimes that works & alot of times it doesn't.  Nature will do what is going to do.  However, it has to be determined in the first 21 days of incubation to have any chance of working.
The humidity should be around 70-80%.  Make sure there is good ventilation so that condensation doesn't leak onto the eggs, & drown the babies.
