Question
If bitten, by a rattlesnake, and you have car jumping cables, then placed the positive/negative onto the bite area, would this give a person more time to seek medical HELP?

Answer
I think you mean Diamondback rattlers. The procedure you describe was taught to me when I was in the Army, and it has circulated the net since the 90s. There is some controversy in mainstream medical literature as to whether it works, but I have seen anecdotal evidence first hand that it does. No, it won't work with jumper cables to a battery though. We used to carry stun guns when snake hunting in west Texas, and I have seen video of someone using a stun gun who was bitten at a rattlesnake roundup, but I have no way of knowing if it was a dry bite. The procedure is called electrolysis, and it requires high voltages and low current. You can't get that from a car battery.

I have treated 3 people though using jumper wires off an ignition coil for treatment of brown recluse bite, and their symptoms went away with no further tissue damage, but this was on older cars, not the new high efficiency electronic coil packs like in today's cars. I have treated someone with a stun gun who was awakened after being bitten by a Black Widow immediately found under the pillow. Symptoms in that person quickly subsided after numerous short duration shocks from a stun gun encircling the bitten area. This was a stun gun though, not a taser.

This does not mean I advocate you doing this, especially for rattlesnake bite. In that event, you are going to need to get to a hospital, and trying to mess with jumper cables under a car hood is just wasting time when you could be on the road. The stun gun method is not yet proven effective to my knowledge in snakes, though I would still try it if I were in a remote location and many miles to go for help. I would not rely on it, and you shouldn't either.
