snake This snake was found in my backyard. I have a 4 yr old daughter, so I hope the snake we found is not poisonous. Here is a fuzzy picture. The snake is small, no more than 6 to 8 inches. We live in southeast Louisiana, north of Lake Pontchartrain.

OK it's not Venomous. It appears to be a Northern Blotched Water Snake when they are young their patterns are different than when they are adults so my research tells me that this is the most likely candidate. Also North American Venomous Snakes have a triangle shaped head except for the Coral Snake which is not in your area.
