Found unkown lizard!

My kids found, what I think is a lizard but not sure, in their grandma's backyard.  I don't know what kind it is or anything about it but they would like to keep it for a little while and we are trying to find out how to take care of it properly.  Do you have any suggestions on what to feed it and care for it?  Or do you suggest returning it back into the wild, since that is where it came from?

 It would be best to release it.  Without een knowing where you are and a description or picture of the lizard, there would be no way of knowing what it required.  However, in the wild it will happily find its own food.  Wild caught are never happy in captivity.  Lizards that are captive bred are much happier with humans.
