Question
I am in South Australia
Why after having a turtle/tortoise for 6 months do they keep dieing on me?
is it anything to do with hibernating?

Answer
Well, tortises are notoriously difficult animals to keep in captivity and some species of turtles can be pretty tough as well.

If you could provide me with some details about your pets and your husbandry practices, I might be able to help you figure out what's going wrong.

Which species are you keeping (specifically)?
Are the animals captive bred, captive hatched, or wild caught?
If they are captive hatched or wild caught, do you take them to the vet to be checked for parasites?
How large are they when you get them?
What is the size of your enclosure?
What are you feeding the animals?
What is your ambient temprature?
What is your basking temprature?
What is your humidity level?
What kind of substrate do you use?
Do you make any temprature changes from day to night?
Do you make any temprature changes from summer to winter?

Hopefully we'll be able to get this figured out.  In the mean time, best of luck with your critters.  :)
