Answer An experienced person can tell the sex of a gecko at about 3-4 months old, and it gets easier as the animal gets older. Primarily, if you look at the vent of the animal then just below, a male will have more pronounced femoral pores, in a slightly v-shaped line, an below that, on the base of the tail, a bulge just as the tail comes from the body. A female will have a row of pores but they will be so small you'd barely see them and no bulge on the tail base.
