Snake egg identification

Question

Snake Egg
This egg was found in the American Embassy compound Bangkok, Thailand.  After close examination it appears that there might also be a snake hidden in the brush area.  Not sure as the camera close up is not that great.  A cobra was seen in the compound but at a much earlier time.  Can you help at all with the identification?
Thanks,
Melissa

Answer
NO way I can ID an egg from halfway around the world!  LOL  Sorry.  I can tell you cobras do lay eggs and that King Cobras actually build nests and guard their eggs so it is unlikely (but not impossible) that your egg is a King Cobra egg.  I can't even honestly judge the size of the egg in the pic.  It does look healthy though!  I'd either leave it alone and check it daily or place it in some damp (not wet) vermiculite at 88 degrees F and see what hatches.  WARNING venomous snakes hatch fully capable of injecting venom.

Now if the state department would like to fly me to Thailand to handle this problem I would be happy to comply!  I will require a firstclass seat for such a long trip though...
