eye infection

Question
my 2 yr old gecko has a eye infection..it is swollen and its all white and gooey when he opens it you cant even see his actual eye..the infection is spreading to the other eye and i cant find a vet who will let me do payments..if u know of any ideas tht i could try can u please let me kno..thank you

Hi Amanda,
It sounds like he may need an oral antibiotic along with eye ointment.  You can gently wash the eye with saline solution(like used for contact lens) to wipe the eye out. Since it is spreading to the other eye, it is an infection most likely. Vitamin A deficiency can cause eye problems in geckos..be sure to use a vitamin powder 3-4 times a week to dust the insects.
We are not vets here and cannot prescribe any medications to use.  I did come across this which may help you out a bit with what the vet may do. :)
