Leopard Gecko Egg Laying

22 11:51:40

Question
I have heard that leopard geckos still lay eggs without mating. Is This True?..And If it is true how can I tell when my Leo will lay eggs and what do I do?

Answer
It's possible, but not super common.  If your leopard gecko becomes gravid, you will see the eggs through the thin skin of its belly--two large white ovals.  (A single white shape seen through the skin is her bladder--the white ovals would be in addition to this).  If a female gecko starts producing eggs, make sure to offer plenty of calcium, and if she continues, adjust her light cycle to mimic winter to try to encourage her to stop.  (No sense stressing her body for no reason).
Be sure to provide a laying box (though if you have a proper humid hide, she may use that).  In the absence of an appropriate laying site, a female may retain eggs, which can threaten her life.
