Question
HI,
We noticed for the last 3 weeks our 11 year old female dragon has been getting thin. She eats crickets and greens everyday. We have never seen her this thin before. We are going to take a fecael sample in to our vet with her but wanted to see if you had any ideas.
thanks

Answer
Hi Kelly,
WOW!! 11 years!! that is wonderful!!  You truly have a senior citizen in the beardie world.
You taking her to the vet and having a fecal and a check up is the best you can do for her. You may also want to have some blood work done as she is older and it can be problems associated with age at this point.
The blood work will help you (and your vet) know if it has something to do with her organs....Again, its wonderful that you have an senior citizen beardie and also I am soo happy to hear that you are going to the vet with her.  Please let me know how you make out with the blood tests.  Its not often I get to hear about beardies at 11 years of age!! You have done a wonderful job of keeping her.
One thing that does come to mind is your UVB...even though its suggested that the tubes be changed every 6-9 months, every now and then a bad uvb tube comes along that doesn't put out the uvb even that long.  If you live where its still nice and warm and sunny , try taking her outside for some real sunshine on a daily basis...for an hour or so a day and see if that helps at all....
