Question
QUESTION: Hello my family recently was given a dragon about 6 years old. This was a few months ago, and she hasn't eaten without assistance as long as we have had her. We were told, by the lady we got her from, she was giving her large canned grasshoppers dusted every couple days with little to no veggies. she had her in a terrarium that was too small (2' wide x 2' deep x 2.5' tall). We moved her into a 40 gal tank with 2 coil uvb bulbs(repti glo 10.0 uvb 26 watt), a 100 watt zoomed uva basking bulb, and a ceramic heat emitter. The tank has the basking zone around 100 degrees and cool spot around 85. We tried feeding her fresh veggies and crickets but she didn't eat them. The only thing i can do is when we take her outside she starts to open her mouth in the sunlight and I put softened exo terra dragon kibble in her mouth. I use an eye dropper to water her with exo terra electrolyte & vitamin d3 liquid as per the instructions. She is not active unless outside when she walks to the shady spot, then she sits there. Her bowel movements have become white and dark green/tan coloration. I read that they should look more along the lines of white and black. Please help if you can I don't want her to die, the kids here love her and would miss her terribly.

Thanks for your time,
Jared

ANSWER: Hello Jared,

The first thing I would do would be to change out the coil/compact UVB lights.  They are hazardous to their health as they emit the improper wavelength of UVB.
I recommend getting a Reptisun 10 tube bulb or the Arcadia D3 12% tube bulb.  The tube needs to be 6-8 inches from her alongside of a bright white basking light.

Are you using a bright white basking light as well?
What type of thermometer do you use?
If her stool has been green, it could be due to something you are feeding her or it could be parasites or flagelletes.  Can you get a fecal done on her?
What type of substrate do you use, sand, tiles, paper towels?
How often do you use straight calcium for her?

Do you have pictures of her?

QUESTION: Thank you for your quick reply. We use a cage liner and calasand with 75% cage liner. The basking light doesn't say if it is a bright white but it looks like a regular household light though. The thermomter that we have is the one that sticks on the glass and we have two of them. We will be calling around vets to see about getting the fecal exam done. We feed her calcium with her kibble every other feeding.

There are some pics attatched

Thank you again

Answer
Hello Jared,

Did you remove & take out the coil light for her now?  The regular household light bulb will be fine for her basking light.
How is she doing, is her appetite improving?
You will need to get a digital probe or temp gun to measure the temperatures better as the stick on types are not very accurate.  Definitely try to get a fecal done on her also.
That is fine, as long as she gets calcium several times per week she should get enough calcium.

Let me know how she is doing.
