Question
Tail rot?
Tail rot?
Hi, one of my two bearded dragons looks like they have tail rot. I'm not sure if its a girl or a boy as its only 3 months old. The temperature in the cage is 32 c and at night it's 25 c. They have a large branch and a really big viv (don't know exact size) Its had it since i got it and seems active to me, also it hasn't spread since i got it. If theres any more info you need then just ask and ill follow it up. Also brown flakey bits are on it. So is it tail rot?

Answer
I can't diagnose medical conditions. I can offer advice as to whether or not to seek medical help, but even that advice comes with the message that seeking medical help is ALWAYS the safest bet.  Smell the tail-if it stinks like rotting flesh then he's got necrosis or "tail rot."  You can treat minor cuts, scrapes, etc. at home w/ an antibiotic ointment, but if it goes systemic and you wait for that to happen it would probably be too late to save him.  BTW that nipped tail usually comes from the other lizards biting him.
