ANSWER: Hi Danielle,
If you are talking about the spots you see...they are called femoral pores.  They all have them and by looking that Spikes, he is a male for sure.
They may protrude out more during certain times (breeding season) and they will slide across things to mark their territory.

Yep, its only the top few that are larger.  Of course if they look to be infected in any way(red around it, draining,swelling around it, etc) then they need to be vet checked. They really aren't swollen...the substance that is in the pores is like a waxy substance. Don't try to pull these out as it can cause infections.  Sometimes they become blocked and a vet is needed to clean them.
