DUSKY
QUESTION: well hello there! this is kunal I live in INDIA and i have recently bought two baby res's. the two looked fine in the starting but one of them hasn't eaten for 2 or maybe 3 week . i provide them with all the necessary requirements yet i don't see any improvement in it's appetite.now's the real thing - ever since i had suspicions that he wasn't eating i also say some more symptoms of illness in him.
1- excessive shedding of skin
2- tilt swimming
3- not being able to submerge at all
4- some bubbles coming out of it's nose when in water
5- not eating at all for 3 weeks
6- he spends almost all the time on the dry area
7- a little swollen eyes

i researched a lot on the internet about these but couldn't find all the symptoms related to any disease(or maybe i missed something ) . there's another problem here- here in India we don't have any reptile specialist nor any ordinary vet who knows about reptiles. even the dealer through which i adopted this res knows nothing about their cure.

i request you kindly tell me a way through which i "myself" can cope with this critical situation as i don't want to loose my love.
if possible tell me some general medication or general supplements which even i can find in my city because i am incapable of buying online. i hope you understand my difficulty, thank you for giving heed to my mail and i know dusky(whose carapace is still 1 & 1/2 inch)  would be thankful for your kind help.
thank you!

ANSWER: Hello Kunal,   Unfortunately this is not situation you are going to be able to handle yourself. These are definitely all the signs of a respiratory infection. They are so delicate especially when they are young. He or she needs to go to a vet for systemic antibiotic. There is no other way. You want to make sure they have a basking area of about 95 degrees for them to totally dry when they want or need too. Let me know how things go.  Good Luck, Tina

QUESTION: well i knew this would happen. isn't there any thing i can do? because there aren't any vet who knows even a little' about reptiles here forget the antibiotics they would give.or maybe some of them really knows . well I'll try my best in looking for some vet around. thank you!
and is there any hope that he can recuperate himself if i am unable to find the vet?

Answer
Kunal,    I have seen stranger things happen. There is always a miracle but, as young as they are I don't see it getting anything but worse. I hope you have luck finding a reptile vet out there. I am going to send you for future reference. In the meantime like I said make sure he or she has a nice basking area available at 95 degrees. Good Luck, Tina    http://www.redearslider.com/
