a friend gave us 4 geckos what kind of bedding do u use for them? and how often do u feed them?we feed them crickets is that enough for them?every 2 weeks

Answer
Hello Darlene,

What type of geckos do you have currently & are they all housed together?
I ask if they are housed together because if you have more than 1 male in with the group, you will have some dominance problems & possible fights.
The best type of bedding or substrate to use for them is a solid substrate such as non adhesive shelf liner, reptile carpet, colored felt, or paper towels.  Please do not use sand, as that causes impactions in them.
If they are adults, then they will need to eat several times per week.  try feeding them every other day or every third day as adults.  If they are babies or juveniles they need to be offered food daily as they are growing. Appropriately sized crickets are fine.
Also, don't forget that you will need to have a dish of calcium powder in the tank for them, or just simply dust their feeders.  Either way is fine, or you can do both to see which way works better for them.
You can also try mealworms, or phoenix worms both would be good to add some variety in with the crickets.
Do you have an undertank heater for them?  They do need some belly heat as well as a low wattage basking light too.  They require a basking spot of around 88-90 for warmth to help digest, with a cooler end of around 78-82.
