QUESTION: Oh Tracie, You are talking to a 44 yr old, pre menopausal and currently PMSing mother of a 1st year middle schooler that does day care for 3 boys under the age of 3 and Your making me very nervous.
I had to list as a new question due to too many follow-ups,
It has been almost two weeks since his impaction.(he had ALL the symptoms per the info I looked up.) The photo showing all of him has been his stance lately while basking. Legs stretched out behind him. He will chase his food and move freely around his house. It does not seem to bother him to walk now, but it did during and right after the impaction. He eats anywhere from 20 to 40 small crickets a day. My piece of mind for the small crickets until I know he is well. He has a BM every day now. Plus he has been doing pretty good with his salads most of the time. I took a profile so you could see the bumps and was also able to get a close up. It is all under the skin. No blister or injury. I have not seen a change in the past week in the size of the bumps. No crickets left in his tank after feeding. They annoy him. His light is a 50w EXO Terra Sun Glo about 6 inches from his head when basking upward. I tried a 75w infrared heat glo when it was cooler in the house for a week and it seemed to be too hot.
I do not know off hand the lights you prefer but I have printed it and will replace the bulbs with your recommendations In Nov or DEC. His basking temp is about 92 and cool side is about 85. I hope I have answered your questions. Thank you again for all your help and quick response. Brenda

ANSWER: Hello Brenda,

Unfortunately, I have bad news.  You are not using a UVB light source.  The Sun Glo is just a basking light so it provides absolutely no UVB light at all.  He needs a UVB light to be used in combination with the Sun Glo such as the one that I suggested, the Reptisun 10 flourescent tube bulb.
What are you measuring your temperatures with, a stick on type of thermometer, a digital probe or a temp gun?  The basking temps are recommended at 95-110 & the cooler end around 78-82.  What is the size of your tank?
So, those bumps are most likely going to be due to bony protrusions of calcium deposits because of poor calcium absorption.  When they are not absorbing calcium very well, their body will overcompensate & can deposit calcium in unusual places.  Those are early signs.
The only other thing it could be would be cysts which they can get, or tumors.  The only way to totally confirm this isi by x-ray or MRI, but x-ray would be cheaper.  Have you had a blood test done on him?

QUESTION: I have decided to take him in to  the vet. He has had a BM that I am not happy with at all. I do have a UVB light on the cool side of the cage. All lights are on for 13 to 14 hours a day. I did not mention it in my answers. Sorry if I made you concerned. I knew when we started I would have to update the light fixtures, Thermometers ect when we upgraded his home. These items were left from the other Beardie. I have been doing alot of reading and have not gone into this blind and have done, I believe, everything correctly as I learned. Your help has been priceless and I appreciate it. I will let you know what happens after the vet. Ill make some calls today. I love my Snickers and will do anything he needs.
Thanks again. Sincerley Brenda

Answer
Hello Brenda,

How is Snickers doing today?
Sorry I just did not remember about your UVB light.  It needs to be on the hot side of his tank directly beside the Sun Glo so he can get more exposure.  He is most likely not getting enough UVB exposure.
I hope we can figure out what those bumps are.  I had forgot to ask you if they were hard or soft?
I know you are doing your best, no worries!  :-))  I will help as much as I can without physically being there.
