Bearded Dragons Head Turns Yellow?

Yellow Head
QUESTION: I'm asking a question for my friend right now...
He got his dragon a few days ago and had to take it on vacation with him because no one at home knows how to care for it yet.

When he bought it, it was a common grey. He got in the car with it, in a cardboard box to keep it from getting stressed, and it's head (only its head) turned bright yellow...He got out, and it went back to grey after a while.

Now he's back in the car and it's yellow again. I'll try and get a picture...Eek! It's a good thing this picture doesn't rely on detail.

Do you think this is a symptom of stress or something? What could have caused it if not? Is it something to worry about, or just an interesting quirk?

ANSWER: Hello Mikaela,

The coloring of his head may have something to do with the overall brightness of the car.  I do not think it is anything to worry about.  Did the beard area turn dark, or not?
They can change their colors according to mood & body heat levels.

QUESTION: Thank you! I simply asked because I had never heard of something so drastic before. I see light blue bars turn to black bars on my dragon but...A grey to yellow head seemed to stretch normalcy a bit.

Also, speaking of my lizard. She ripped some shed off of her face, and then ripped the scab off of her face, and I asked you for help a while back. You told me to keep you updated. :) So here's your update! She's doing perfectly fine, with an all too healthy appetite, and successfully shed her face, arms/legs, tail, and feet a little under a week ago. She still has a strange black/grey splotch on her face, and I'm beginning to think that will never fade, but she's still healthy and beautiful as ever thanks to your tips on keeping out infection. Thanks again! I decided to put it here so I didn't steal one of your five question slots on a simple update.

Answer
Hello Mikaela,

It is a little extreme, the coloring change being so drastic.

Wow, that is awesome she is doing so well now.  I am happy you were able to keep the infection away & that she has shed her body successfully.  Sometimes the scales don't grow back as normal when there is or was substantial scale & or skin damage.
Thanks for the update, that is so great for her!
