green iguana is pregnant!!!i think

QUESTION: hi my name is Jacques pronounced as jock and i have a 4 year old green iguana. it hasn't pooped in like 6 or 7 days so far and also she is very aggressive and bit my dad! i was wondering if she was pregnant?

ANSWER: I am not sure if it is gravid (pregnant with eggs) as it could just as easily be sick.Was she exposed to a male? It may be an impaction, a disease where a reptile swallows its substrate and it forms a blockage. I am sorry to say that if this is the case, she won't make it. What substrate was she on? If it was loose, such as sand or wood chips, then she could have easily become impacted. Please get back to me and answer my questions and I'll be able to tell you more about you're little girl.
P.S. Just in case, give her a place to lay her eggs. You can make a moist hide by by cutting a hole in a lidded container and filling it with peat moss or vermiculite.

QUESTION: i used to live in new York and i just moved to north Carolina about 3 years ago. in new York my friends dad had a male green iguana and we used to let them play together.i think we had mulch in her tank. i looked up on the computer more about impaction and it said that if they are impacted then they don't eat. is that true? well if it is she must not be impacted because she eats every day and today she was soaking herself in the water tub that we put out there. any way thank you for the help and please reply to this too!

OK, if she is eating then its not an impaction. It is possible that she mated with him and stored the sperm, but it seems unlikely. If you give it a bath in warm water and drip some over her head, then she may insinctivly go to the bathroom. If you have anymore questions, feel free to contact me again.
