Horned frog (Pacman frog) ate gravel

Question
our pacman frog who is about 1 1/2 inches across ate a small piece or gravel on sunday, november 2. it was a small pebble only about half the size of a pinkie fingernail. since then, he hasnt pooped at all. he is eating about 1-2 medium crickets per day. our vet is closed today and there is nowhere else that i can go or call in the area. i have heard of giving them metamucil or olive oil/mineral oil to help them pass it. do you think this is a good idea? please let me know how much to give him as well. thanks!

Answer
Hi T
I have never kept this species of frog but I would like to ask if this is an abnormal amount of time for this animal not to have defecated?

You are correct that with many species of lizards that different oils can be used as a laxative but there can be a danger associated with doing so
When administered to them- it to them it can end up in their lungs instead of their stomachs if you are not sure of the correct way to administer the oil

Is this frog still feeding?

I would recommend at least calling a herp vet for advice on this problem as I have no experience to draw from to give advice here
Bring the frog into the vet to be seen if this is what the vet advises

I am sorry that I could not be of more help

Please remove any ingestible substrate such as gravel if you have not already done so
Many people use coconut fiber for substrate for these frogs

I wish you the best with your frog
