Question
my iguana wont eat, i thought it was stress from the move but,i got him at a pet store they did not treat him well, hes missing 3 toes, and freaked out when you got to close. but now hes calm, i started to hand feed him i put it in front of his mouth and he'd eat a little, but wont eat on his own, i tried to get him to eat on his own but he started to get skinny again i know its not healthy to see a crease from the base of the tail and bottom of his ribs to the top, so i started to puree his food and hand feed him with a syringe .gave him a total of 150 calo a meal, 17.5 ml of food *[BID]. [I'm a dietitian] appox,calc-70mg. P-20 mg,d-7 mg, k-12mg,protein-7g, c-20mg, and so on., .so  what else can i do to get him to eat on his own,and how many cals a day does a 7 month old need?

Answer
Hi how r u? I hope I can be of some help. My area of knowledge is limited to uromastyx but I do know a bit about iguanas. U should have ur iggy checked by a vet for parasites. The vet will want to do a fecal. Soak ur iggy in pedialyte 3-4 times a week. If he's not eating, keep force feeding with the syringe. Add powdered calcium to his meals.  Make sure he has a basking spot of at least 85-90 degrees. Do u have a proper UV light in the tank??  Please let me know what happens. I hope I helped. Good luck.
