Bearded Dragon Ear Color

Question
QUESTION: Hello, I just got my bearded dragon a new heat lamp & noticed that the inner
part of both his ears are red with a web-like patch of white which seems unusual
to me. It may just be the light coming through differently, but I would
appreciate whatever information/advice you might have. Thank you!

ANSWER: Hello Amy,

Can you post a picture of that for me?
I believe that is normal, based on the description that you gave me, it sounds just like the tympanic membrane which is the thin covering over the ear.
It will appear basically translucent especially if light is shining on or around that area.

QUESTION: It appears red to me rather than translucent, but take a look and see what ya think. Thank you Tracie!

Answer
Hello Amy,

That looks a little bit different than my dragons.  It can vary in color from dragon to dragon a little.
Has he seemed to have any balance problems lately?  The membrane appears undamaged however, by just looking at the picture right now.
The membrane itself is very thin & does cover the inner mechanisms of the ear.  You really literally can see "inside" of your dragon's body which is why it may appear reddish in color, but the clear membrane covering it is translucent.
When was it that you noticed the color difference?
I have been looking at pictures to determine differences.  I have noticed that a lot of dragons with more of a color morph have more color than those that are less colored.
There doesn't appear to be any swelling of the ear area either.  I think that for your dragon, this is normal.
