Sick Anole

Question
Hi,
I have a sick anole that I think may have MBD.  He is 2 1/2 years old.  He seemed fine a week ago and then toward the end of last week, we noticed he was on the bottom of the cage allot.  Then slowly his health has deteriorated due to him not eating much.  At this point he has stopped moving, showing little signs of activity and very weak.  As of last night he still had a willingness to want to eat but didn't eat much.  He had some baby food yesterday and Repti-Care last night.  Only a few licks of food and about .2cc of Repti-Care is all he would take.  I also gave him .2cc of Pedialyte the night before to help with the slightly dehydrated look.  It's helped him before when sick.  He started showing signs of spasms or seizures as of last night and after feeding him, he kept holding his mouth open to help breathe.  I think he has some mucus in his mouth which is making me afraid to continue to syringe feed him as I don't want to drown him or give him pneumonia.  He is in a 18x18x24 glass container.  The temps are monitored and kept in the optimum range.  We have been using 2 UVB Exo-Terra Repti Glo 5.0 bulbs for UVB light and a basking light as well.  We have been changing UVB bulbs every 6 months and are due to be changed this week.  We also have two females in the cage that are much younger and seem fine.  At this point we don't know which way to turn to help him or if we are on the right track.  Can  you help?
Bill

Answer
Hello Bill,

The Reptiglo 5 tube bulb is not very good.  I would get the Reptisun 5 or 10 tube bulb for him.
What are the temperatures in the tank?
I would separate him from the two females right now to help him out & get him his own setup if possible for awhile.
If you feel that he could have pneumonia or at least a respiratory infection, you could probably keep the tank just a bit warmer especially overnight to help with his immune system.
The food you are feeding him is fine, but I can understand your hesitation so as not to cause him to aspirate & make things worse.

How do his eyes look & his colors?
Do you give him calcium on a regular basis?

Please post some pictures of him, too.
Thanks.
