chinese water dragon illness

2 weeks ago his blue light went out so i got a red one. now he will not open his eyes and loss of apatite lack of movement he is about 1 year old about 1.5 feet long with tail i have used water on q-tip to wipe his eyes out he blinked but not to stay open i was told to try saline solution any info would be nice thanks

Hello Richard, instead of a saline solution get some turtle eye drops from your pet store and try those.

What kind of light are you using? A red light for his heat?

Do you have UVB lighting as well or just this red one? Do you know the brand or type?

You need to have a UV light the best and most recommended are

Reptisun 5.0 or Reptisun 10.0 (the ten is for large cages)

YOu also need a heat light of any brand I suggest using a ceramic heat emitter, be sure ot have thermometers in many areas of the enclosure to be sure it doesnt get too hot.

Ceramic Heat Emitters or CHEs save on energy bills and have a lower risk of fire, they also have a longer life then other heat lights.
