Question
I have a small [100 gal.] yard pond in the shade near the house which has atracked frogs and or toads. I've had several batches of tadpoles this year. For the first time I saw the eggs in a ribbon which surprised me by hatching in less then a week. Anyway I want to know what I have. There are some bummpy guys that are obviously toads but the few young ones that survived being eaten by the fish and sit on the lily pads are kind of green with long brownish black striped legs and have a yellowish stripe along each side of the body. I havn't found a picture that looks just like mime so I wondered if a young toad looks different from and old toad. Can you tell me what I have.

Answer
Lillian I would probably be able to identify what you had if there was a photo that I could see. Given that, here is a site which may help you http://www.californiaherps.com/texas.html#frogs it's texas frogs and toads. Also Sara Viernum The Wandering Herpetologist http://wanderingherpetologist.com/ might be able to help as well as she specializes in amphibian species.
