Question
ok so my bearded dragon i got in august of this year at about 4 months of age it is a male and lately he has beginning to act like he is dizzy and very clumsy i just wanted to know what you think it may be we have changed his lights and started to bathe him and he was fine for like 2 days but now he is getting worse again (his lights were the repti glo 10 and now we have the repi sun 10 which most websites recommended) please get back to me as soon as you can

Answer
Hello Alyssa,

First off, that is great you did some research regarding lighting.  Unfortunately, the initial light the Reptiglo 10 was a bad light.  It lacks the favorable wavelength for D3 synthesis.  So what has happened, he has not been able to properly absorb calcium so he most likely has a light case of metabolic bone disease.
The good news is that you have already replaced his light to a Reptisun 10.  It is a flourescent tube bulb, correct?  It needs to be 6-8 inches away, & placed directly beside your basking light.  Are you using a bright white light for his basking light?
One thing that will really help him at this point is some liquid calcium.  You can buy that from:
www.beautifuldragons.com     Click on the nutritional & medications link.
Have him stay on that for at least 1 month or longer & it should really boost his levels.  If you need help with dosing it, let me know.
The UVB lights need to be changed every 5-6 months for optimal output.
He should begin to recover pretty quickly.  Is he eating ok?
