Answer
Hi Miranda, Lets discuss the clogged vent first. The first thing I would suggest is to soak him in small amount of tepid water for 15 minutes or so to soften and clean the vent area. You will need to determine if there is just faeces sticking to the area or if there seems to be tissue protruding from the vent. If you determine that tissue is sticking out then you need to keep it clean and lubricated (vaseline or even cooking oil will do) and get him to a vet as soon as you can. This is called a prolapse and can only be effectively treated by a vet. There is usually some underlying cause for a prolapse like a heavy parasite infection that the vet will also address.
If it appears to be faeces stuck to or protruding from the vent then gently remove whatever you can see externally with a Q-tip. A vet visit would still be a good idea at this point to assess whether there is some blockage occurring. Otherwise keep a close eye on him for further defecation problems and keep him well hydrated.

The reduced activity could be related to the clogged vent but it could also just be coincidental. Bearded dragons typically enter a period of inactivity and decreased appetite right at this time of year. It is called brumation and is similar to hibernation in mammals. Brumating beardeds will eat very little or nothing and typically sleep all day, usually in the cooler end of the tank. Unfortunately dragons that are ill will behave the same way! A pretty reliable way to tell the difference is simply to pick them up. Brumating dragons will seem quite normal, bright eyed and alert while in your hand but quickly go back to sleep when put back in the tank. Dragons that are ill will usually appear weak, with half-closed or sunken eyes.
