QUESTION: So I just bought two baby bearded dragons(around 6 weeks) from a local reptile pet store and I have all the right equipment, food, and supplements for the two of them. However, I have a custom built cage that's 3'tall, 3'long and 1 1/2'wide. I talked to the guy who owns the shop and he assured me that the they would be fine in a cage that size but they didnt seem to be handling the move very well. They wouldn't eat unless I hand fed them the crickets and they we're always hiding, so I went to the store and got a ten gallon to keep them in until they got a little bigger, but now one of them wont stop scratching at the glass. Should i have left them in the big cage? Oh and as of right now the 10gal is inside the larger cage because there isn't enough room for the two cages. Should i give them a couple days to get used to the 10gal? Should i take the 10gal out of the larger one? Or should i have left them in the larger one from the beginnig? he photo is how I've had them for less than a day, inside the 10 gal and the larger cage. Im able to keep a basking spot between 100-107degrees in both setups. I would ask the shop owner but his answers are always kind of one word and it doesnt really seem like he cares.. Sorry for the length, please help! Thanks,
Aj

ANSWER: I'd stick with the 10 for now.  I'm guessing that the blue light up in the top right corner is your UVB source???  If so, it needs to be closer to the lizards.  Also, the blue color makes me a little worried about the type.  You need a high intensity UVB bulb, not a full spectrum aquarium blub.  How do you know you have all the right food, lighting, and suppliments?  Give me that list if you'd like me to check it please.

QUESTION: Thanks for getting back to ne so soon! The top right is the UVB bulb and it's a reptisun 5.0. But light hood that it's in is old so I'm not sure if that has something to do with the color? I read that retpisun was a better choice than reptiglo.. As far as food goes I have 1000 crickets that are the next size up from
pinheads(the shop owner said he was feeding them that size already). I've been giving them chopped veggies in a shallow plate but they'll only eat what I hand feed them. I have collard greens, squash, cactus, and some fruit. Strawberry and mango. They're all chopped small enough for the dragons to eat and sprinkled with calcium. I haven't bought multivitamins yet because they're not eating. Should I buy some and if so Which do you suggest?

Answer
OK, that sounds fine.  I'd focus on feeding the crickets rather than buying vitamins.  If the crickets are healthy the dragons will be as well.  Either order a good balanced cricket food from one of the farms (Armstrong's, Flukers, Lucky Lure-the one I use) or give your crickets good wholesome foods yourself.  Oranges, greens, potatoes, cheerios all work (use all not one).  Are you misting the babies at all?  Perhaps they are dehydrated???
