Question
QUESTION: Hi, yesterday my red ear slider turtle died, and i feel very sad the thing is that i dont know how she died i think it's because i put her upside down and then put hr back to the normal position =( and i saw hr face getting blue she stopped breathing and then  she openedher mouth as if she was trying to breath and her legs and her arms and head where relaxed can u tell me if that wasthe reason she died??

ANSWER: Hello Karla,

How long was she upside down? I know that lizards can not be upside down because it crushes their lungs but not sure on turtles. It is very likely that this is the cause.
I am sorry for your loss, I know how it feels to loose a loved pet.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: she was upside down for like 30 seconds but her head was already blue but it got bluer and then she was trying to
breath and i was frustrated and i called the  vet but it told me that i had to pay 85 dlls so he could check her, and i believe my turtle drowned. I saw her trying to breath, i gave her respiration like cpr and it was working but it was already late i had to sleep and when i woke up she was already dead.

Answer
Hi Karla, sorry for the late reply

It does sound as if she suffocated or while upside down something pressured on her lungs or even punctured a lung.

I am not really sure what happened but I can tell you really cared for her and don't beat yourself up over this. It's not your fault.

I am sorry for your loss Karla,
*hugs*
