Question
Yes i just got my plated lizard bout 2 months ago he fine and doing great. I just want to know how to identify the gender can you tell me how?

Answer
Hello Zachary,

I would love to see a picture of him/her.  Can you send me one at:
Drache613@tampabay.rr.com  That would be awesome.
Males normally have larger femoral pores all lined up in a row starting at the inner thighs running to the area in front of the vent.  If you look closely, in back of the vent, there should be a large bulge immediately following the vent.  As males get older, the bulges of the hemipenes are visible when you lift the tail you can see a bulge on each side of the tail base, with an indentation in between them.
Females normally do not have femoral pores, of if they do, they are not nearly as prounounced.  They lack the bulge immediately behind the vent as well, & the 2 bulges on each side of the tail.  Usually there is hardly any bulges at all, you may see one slight bulge on the center right behind the vent.
If you place your lizard on all fours, & gently lift up the tail, you should be able to identify him or her fairly easily.  You can send me pictures of that also, if you would like.
