Is salt water ok?

QUESTION: Hi, I'm moving to the coast in a couple months and I have a Blackthroat Monitor that loves to swim with me. I was just wondering if salt water is ok for him? I'd love to take him in the ocean with me.

ANSWER: Hello Erica,

How large is your Monitor?  That would be fine to take him to the beach but if you get him in the water, you may want to put a leash on him so he doesn't get away too far from you!  The salt water should be fine as long as he doesn't drink it.
Stay alert with him, as large birds could be stressful to him.

Malik   QUESTION: He is just about 5 feet long. I've taken him to the lake lots where I live now and he just loves it, but yes I defiantly use a leash lol and I have taken him out so much that he is fine with birds now.. it's the airplanes that freak him out sometimes hehe.

QUESTION: Yes. I have had him since he was a month old. He is now 1 year 4 months and he was born on Halloween...perfect birthday for a lizard! haha.

WOW, he is just now about a year & a half?  That is excellent you have had him since he was a baby.  He was born on Halloween, that is really cool!  Plus, he is black too, spooky huh?  LOL  :-)
