under tank heating pad

I just wanted to let this forum know that my 4 year old leopard gecko received substantial burns to his underside because the under tank heating pad "broke down" and overheated.  My vet said he has seen this numerous times in his practice and said to use a human heating pad instead. Just thought I'd pass this along. Our little buddy is suffering pretty badly.  Thanks.

Dear Lisa,
thank you for sending this. I usually don't recommend heating pads and when I do, I tend to recommend mounting them on the sides or back of the tank. I do hope that you leo will recover completely! I changed this into a public question so that other people can read it. If you don't want this, let me know and I'll male it private again.
