Uromastyx eating sheded skin

Question
My uro eats the pieces of skin after he sheds . Why does he do this and is it good for him ?

Answer
Hi Pam,
No Need to worry. Its completely normal.  Many species of lizards do this.  I am sure there is some nutritional values,  in the eating shed skin. Even green iguanas, who are not known to eat their shed skin will do so on occasion. Just be sure to keep a clean environment for your uro so that the shed he is eating is "clean".
