what kind of lizard did i find?

here he is okay, it has a blue tail, a green and brown body, a forked, snakelike tongue, and is about 20" long. i think he's a monitor... is he poisonous? help!

Oh my, he is a beauty! His body type is like a monitor, his head is like genus Lacerta, but his size also says monitor and he's not a native species to the United States. The only venomous lizards are the gila monster and the beaded lizard and this guy is neither. I'm thinking he's an escaped pet. However I don't recognize his coloring, I would say, get in contact with your local herpetological society. Someone who can actually see him and not a partial photo whould make better exact identification.
