help with red ackie

Question
My red ackie is having problems with her tail.  I have had her for 4 years,no issues.  She is eating and behaving great but her tail seems to have necrosis of the tissue.  I feel horrible and think that it must be caused by lack of humidity or that I wasn't bathing her enough.  I will bring her to the vet but was wondering if you could tell me what is going to happen...will they just cut if off?  Will she be ok?  I feel awful and am praying that she is not in pain (doesn't seem to be....)
Thanks very much.

Answer
Hi Kristin, usually with problems such as this they will either prescribe a medication (most likey an anti-biotic) and amputate the bad part of her tail so it doesn't spread. Or just amputate it with no medication needed. If you get medical attention and have a vet take a look she should be ok, but left alone it could cause serious problems. If you can touch her tail and she doesn't react then it probably doesn't bother her much.

I hope she is ok, let me know how it goes.
