Question
Hey tracie
you've answered questions for me before about my leopard gecko, i'm now looking to get a bearded dragon.. I've read on some of your answers you say not to use coil or compact uv lights, why is this? Whats the difference between them and the flourescent tube type? Also, is an infrared light needed? Thanx, clay..

Answer
Hello Clayton,

The compact or coil lights have terrible UVB emissions.  They have a photo therapy phosphor coating which enables UVC to penetrate glass & a low wavelength UVB which is harmful.  The quality of the UVB is very poor.  They also glare into the eyes too much, as well.
You are best going with the Reptisun 10 flourescent tube bulb or the Arcadia D3 12%.
