colors of chameleons

Question
i see the panther chameleon pictures all over the web and they are usually in their brightest colors. are people stressing these animals to get them to show their true colors or are these panthers always colorful like this in their natural state

Panthers are naturally more colorful than the average chameleon.  Hence their popularity and price.  It is doubtful people would "stress out" their chameleon in order to get a good pic, because stress usually causes chameleons to get darker and usually monochromatic.  More likely they simpy wait for a good shot or place the chameleon under a nice hot full spectrum bulb.
