Question
QUESTION: 2 veiled chameleons, 4-6 weeks old, how young are they when they first lay eggs and what do i need for them to be comfortable laying eggs.

ANSWER: Hello Kerri, here is a link with all the information on breeding chameleons. I do advise that you wait because it takes a lot of experience and knowledge to breed them.

QUESTION: i dont want to breed them, and am not intending to do so, but i was told that they lay eggs even if not bred

ANSWER: Hi Kerri, I understand now. You stated you had two so I thought your question was about breeding them. The page I gave you tells you the sexual maturity at about 6 months they can be able to lay eggs but sometimes as early as 3 and a half months old. And they do need to feel comfortable to lay their unfertile eggs in which you should setup the lay box exactly as you would if they were fertile. They don't always know that they are infertile and want to give them the same care as if they were. So the link I gave you

http://www.kingsnake.com/rockymountain/RMHPages/RMHCarpets.htm

has the information on how to setup a proper laying site, with a proper laying site they should be very comfortable and at ease when laying their eggs. Although it can cause stress.

But to answer your question, Yes they will lay eggs even without a male to fertilize them. They will be infertile and need to be frozen and discarded as they will never hatch.

I hope that cleared things up,

QUESTION: i'm living in alberta and i cannot find a internet site or a pet store close that has chameleon cages [screen with glass bottom] that can be shipped to me
do you know any sites/stores ?

Answer
Hi Kerri, I have heard that many people have had problems finding reptile items in Canada. I do know a site that deals with many many reptile needs and has some of the best prices.

http://www.reptilesupply.com

They ship to United States, Canada, Japan, UK, and many other places

They carry the "Reptariums" Remember the bigger the cage the better, I wouldnt suggest (if housing them together) anything less then 175 gallon the 260 gallons is better for housing the two of them.
