Question
QUESTION: hi b4 i get my beardie i want 2 no since my parents r devorced i visit my dad evy other weekend i hav 2 tak her w/ me wud she b ok w/ changing houses that often? also we go 2 his gf's house 2 wud she b able 2 tak it?

ANSWER: Hello Jackie,

How old is the dragon that you are wanting to adopt & how big is she?
Babies do not adapt real well if they are constantly moved it stresses them too much.  If you are getting a juvenile or an adult, he or she would probably be fine.  As long as the setups at both houses are the same, & the lighting is adequate at both places.  Adults are pretty laid back & do pretty well traveling & adjust most of the time.
I actually think that they enjoy a little bit of flexibility & traveling from time to time.  The best thing to do is to watch her eating & behavior closely.  If he or she stops eating that is usually the easiest way to determine stress.  If that happens then you will have to try to figure out another arrangement.

I hope that helps out a little bit.  :-))

QUESTION: I want to get a baby i don't know how old or big they are when you buy one at the petstore. I would be the some lights and furniture in his cage. I have to go to my dad's every other weekend do you think. When I buy it, i won't go to my dad's for 2 weeks so would it get to stressed?

ANSWER: Hello Jackie,

Well, normally they are not very big when you get them from the petstore unless you find an adult.  Most are babies & are sold anywhere from 6-8 inches in length.
That is quite a bit of back & forth for him, but he could get used to it after awhile.  He will most likely go through a relocation stress when you initially bring him home from the petstore which takes a couple of weeks for him to get over.
It may be a little rough on him to temporarily relocate him again so shortly after bringing him home from the petstore.  Too much moving around when they are young will affect the appetite.  I hate to say one way or another but with a baby they are so much more prone to stress than juvies or adults are.

QUESTION: thank you tracie ill try to see if i can skip going to his house for a while and let him get  used to my house then after a month or so will it be an ok time to bring him over?

Answer
Hello Jackie,

I think that would be better to give him a little bit of time.  A month should be fine.  Just make sure that his "second home" is basically the same as his immediate home is.  That way it will help him adjust much better.  :-)
I am just happy that you are not going to just leave him alone all weekend when you leave.  He will appreciate that.
