Question
QUESTION: Hi, I just got a wild caught green crested lizard for 3 days now. I think it is not yet an adult after researching the net. I would like to know how often these gorgeous lizards feed? so far this has been his/her diet:

Day ONE: I left 5-7 super worms with him overnight, only 2 worms remained, though im not sure if it really ate the others or they simply escaped as I saw one worm crawling nearby

Day TWO: he ate one worm in the morning and another one in the evening

Day THREE: none for now, will try feeding again in the evening.

P.S. I noticed that it ignores super worms and crickets roaming freely in his enclosure, it seems that it wanted to be fed through hand feeding.

Lastly, are super worms enough for my lizard? I read somewhere that super worms are not good for green crested lizards, though it ignored roaches and crickets so far.

I hope you can help me with this one, as I really am hooked to this creature and would love to see him grow. Thank you. - Erik

ANSWER: Hello Erik,

So you think that the green crested lizard is a juvenile then?  He can be offered food daily since he is still growing.  Do you have any pictures of him?
It sounds like he is already spoiled, wanting to be hand fed already. That is pretty cute.
Superworms are a good choice but some balance should be given with crickets or roaches.  The superworms are higher in fat but have great protein.
What type of lighting are you using for him, do you have a UVB light?
What are the temperatures in the tank?

I can't wait to see a picture of him & of your tank, too.

Where did you get him from?

QUESTION: Hi, he's doing better now and finally able to defecate. His stool was shaped like a super worm, is that normal? I was expecting a whitish, more liquid in form stool.

Im not using any lighting for now as I bask him outdoors or put him near my window  daily 8am to 11 or 12nn.

By the way, we got him from Luzon, Philippines. Thank you very much for the fast reply.

Answer
Hello Erik,

The stool sounds pretty normal to me.  Was there any whitish formed portion?  That is the urate.
Wow that is cool, you let him bask outside?  What type of tank do you put him in?  So he does get a little bit of UVB then?
Is he digesting his food pretty well then?
I would try to maintain a tank basking spot of at least 90 or so to help his digestion.  He or she is really beautiful!

Let me know how he or she is doing!
