Southeast Texas snake

I caught a glimpse of a red bellied snake.  It was about 2 ft long and about 2 inches around at its largest part.  It was in Brazoria Co. near the San Bernard River.

You don't mention what the topside color of the snake was so I am offering you a few links to pics of various snakes. I am guessing you want to identify the species the snake was?
