Question
I have a 4 month old beardie which I have had for a month or so...actually I have 2. One of them is very healthy and has grown like a weed,(so far almost doubling in size since i got them). The other hasn't grown much at all...I have heard this is normal so it's not what concerns me. I feed them gutloaded crickets and wax worms along with broccoli and occasionally shredded carrots.I dust the bugs with Repashy Superfoods Bearded Dragon Calcium Plus. They live in a 1x2x4 ft enclosure that is partitioned down the middle. Their lighting is a Zoo Med 10.0 UVB (also 33%UVA) and a Zoo Med 50W basking UVA Spot Lamp that is on a timer for 11 hrs of light and 13 hrs of dark-which is about the same as it is around here. Basking zone 100-107 degrees, shade 80-87 degrees. Substrate is that thin astroturflike carpet that can be bought at any petstore. Anyway, the problem is the little guy. He has developed these greyish black patches of very dry skin on his head and neck and they don't look very healthy. It does not appear to be a premolt but actually looks like a very very dry unhealthy area of skin. I mist them daily and they seem to gain some moisture from their food as well. I have noticed that when I mist them the little one gulps readily every time but the big one only licks at it sometimes. Both of them have molted twice since I got them. Is the little one just too dry or is it some kind of vitamin deficiency or bacterial rash. His eyes are not sunken so he can't be too dry...

Answer
Hello Jay,

Do you have them housed together?  If so, one might be dominating the other one causing stress & he is not eating.
I think it is time that you probably separate them because at that age, they will be looking to breed too early if they are male & female. Or if they are male & male they could fight once they hit maturity.
The Zoomed Reptisun 10 is a good light as long as it is a flourescent tube bulb.  If you are using a coil or compact bulb then you will need to get rid of that one.  Are you using a bright white basking light?
What type of thermometer are you using to measure your temps?
The greyish patches are most likely areas where he is going to shed.  I hope it is not yellow fungus.  Can you post some pics of it?
I would look at www.beautifuldragons.com  to check out the feeding of greens on there for some better choices.
Do you supplement calcium 5 times per week?
