his eye
his eye
QUESTION: my 2 year old male leopard gecko(igore) has something up with his eye. its hard to see in his pic but its all cloudy and there seems to be discharge. his tail is a little thin too. i double checked every thing in his tank there all the right temp and humidity. the one thing he doesn't have is a humid hide. i hope you can help.

ANSWER: Hello Haley,

You will need to create a humid hide for him on the warm side to help with shedding issues.  If they retain shed on their eyes, it will cause fungal & bacterial issues.
I do see the cloudiness of the eye though & the discharge.
Are you using any antibiotic eye ointment on that eye?

QUESTION: ok i will make sure to put a humid hide in. we cant find the otment ANY WHERE so we have been using saline to flush out his eye daily.

ANSWER: Hello Haley,

How is he doing this evening?
Did you get the humid hide built for him?

If you would like to try the antibiotic ointment, I have a small online reptile supply store & sell the terramycin antibiotic eye ointment.  If you want to try it, let me know.

Keep flushing his eye out with the saline solution.  I hope it is looking better.

Answer
Hello Haley,

Are you trying to feed him baby food yet?  If he is losing weight, you will need to start feeding him some baby food such as chicken, turkey or beef baby food.  Use a plastic syringe or plastic dropper to get food into him.
Continue to flush his eye out daily with the saline solution.
Here is my site to where you can order the Terramycin for him:

www.bug-de-lite.com

Let me know how he is doing.
