Swollen eye of a Brown Anole

Question
Dear Hannah,

I have a brown anole that I recieved  a year and a half ago from a friend, since then he has been moved into a EXO TERRA glass 45x45x45 cm terrarium (with stainless steel mesh top), which is changed every week using foliage from my back yard, six to eight crickets are also dispensed then. His heat lamp is on from 10am to 10pm on most days, and I use a small plasic spritzer bottle to mist him twice a day.

During the past couple weeks he has gotten very thin, (though the crickets are all gone by the end of the week) and just today I saw that he was avoiding the heat lamp, when I took a closer look, it seemed that he had a small bubble under his eye, that seemed to be forcing it shut. When I looked just again, it seemed that the whole area around his eye, looked infated. The eyelid remains intact as far as I can see, though forced to close by the swollen outer eye.

He is very skiddish, and I rarley if ever handle him, if I do, I wash before and after.

Please reply soon!

Answer
Your question was sent to the pool but I will answer it.

If this condition still exists then you should simply take the Anole to a vet. It could be a poisonous plant reaction ( you should not be using just anything from your yard, especially if you do not live where the species of Anole is native ), it could be substrate in the eye, it could be him being chewed on by crickets ( crickets should not be left in the terrarium because they will do that ), it could be an infection...there are just too many possibilities, and that is why you should go to a vet rather than ask here and wait for answers.
