Question
QUESTION: my beardie is pregnant again. she getting really fat now but not laying yet ive still got the male dagon in with her could this be the reason shes not laying shes digging like crazy i have read on oyther web sites to split the male and female while the female is pregnant but i havent anywhere to put the male if i do can you help with what i should do or would they be ok if i left them together thank you vanessa ...

ANSWER:   She wants to lay but the tank is not the best place.  She needs a proper laying box.  You will find the proper instructions to make a laybox at www.blackninjakitty.com them click on dragons and then go to the left and click on Gravid Beardie Laybox.  Do this immediately.  She may retain those eggs and become eggbound if she can't find a good place to lay them.

QUESTION: thanks for your reply, when my beardie laid her last lot of eggs i put a laying box in for her but she woludnt go in it and she laid her eggs in the corner of the tank and thats where she is digging again in the same lace but was wondering if she wernt laying because the maloe is in there with her thanks vanessa ...

ANSWER: That is why you must keep a separate place for her to lay. outside of the tank.  In the wild, the female is by herself, and wants a secret place to lay her eggs.  Many reptile females are like that.  That's why the laybox is a separate entity, away from the tank.  And the mound should be at least 18" high and in diameter so she can dig deep in and down.

QUESTION: HI THERE MY BEARDED DRAGON LAID HER EGGS ON THE WED 14TH MAY I HAVE PUT THEM IN AN INCUBATER AND THE TEMP IS ABOUT 84 DEGREES THEY SEEM TO BE DOING WELL THEY ARE ALL STILL LOVELY AND PLUMP AND WHITE A COUPLE OFF THE EGGS ARE SLIGHTLY DENTED BUT ONLY A LITTLE (still white)...  HOW OFTEN CAN I OPEN THE INCUBATER AND LOOK AT THE EGGS AND HOW OFTEN DO I CHECK IF THEY NEED SPRAYING OR DO I JUST LEAVE THEM AND NOT OPEN THE BOX WHERE THE EGGS ARE... THANK YOU VERY MUCH  VANESSA ...

Answer
Do you have a digital thermometer with a probe and a humidity gauge? You can get them in any store that has an outdoor/patio section for around $15.00.  Place the bottom of the unit over the !/2 inch hole on top of the incubator.  The humidity should stay around 70% or better.  Once a day you can touch the vermiculite to make sure it's moist, if it's going dry spray only the vermiculite, never on the eggs or the babies will drown.
