Question
Hi! I am 20/f college student.

I am looking to buy a reptile friend.

I have raised iguanas, geckos, newts, salamanders, frogs, and snakes in the past 10 years.

I'm looking to have a new reptile friend.

Do you have any recommendations?

I'd prefer a smallish critter (maybe max length 12 inches?)

I'd LOVE to have another iguana, but they do grow and I don't have the space to keep upgrading to accommodate its size.

I was looking at bearded dragons, but they can get pretty expensive...

I like rather docile creatures. Like, maybe keeping 2 females together.

I loved having iguanas because they had such personalities...I really miss my little friends. One of my iguanas, who was a year old when I got him, was frail and sickly for the whole 7 years I had him. Finally an infection got him and the treatments didn't work. My second iguana...well. I feel bad, but I had to rehome him. He was about 2 years old when I got him, and I only had him for 6 months, he was EXTREMELY aggressive, and grew to about 3ft. I couldn't handle him and he was sent to a herp sanctuary. (He is still big and strong today!)

Just don't want you to think I am a bad pet owner. :(

So anyway. I don't consider myself an expert with reptiles, but I have had quite a family in the past, and am just looking for a new family member. I have been without reptilian interaction for about a year now, since my last newt finally passed on. (RIP: Newt! He was o-l-d as dirt.)

Sorry I keep babbling.

Do you think you could recommend a new pet for me? My current pets include 2 birds and 3 beta fish.

Thank you,
Kayla

Answer
You can't go wrong with a bearded for personality.  They can cuddle, get addicted to TV, and are extremely docile.  Only one per habitat, and the habitat should be at least a thirty gallon breeder tank.  You should check with a reptile vet for rescues in your area, sometimes they have beardies needing new homes.
