QuestionQUESTION: I am sorry to bother you, but i need to know what kind of turtle i just found.
we have a red eard slider as a pet already, today i saw a very small turtle
crossing the street. the shell alone is maybe an inch and a half in length, the
tail is longer than the shell. the shell seems soft to the touch. the head and
shell have a smokie grey color, with black rings around the eyes, almost
giving a "ghost" look. the under side seems to have very little if any shell at
all and is very dark. i would like to know what kind this is and if it is okay to
put it in with the slider, or should i return to a ditch or something. Thanks so
much for your time.
ANSWER: Hello Amy,
Can you post a picture of it, that would help alot. There are so many different types of turtles.
It sounds like it could be a very young turtle though. I would not put it in with your red eared slider, as you don't know if it is carrying any disease, or if it is compatible in husbandry conditions or not.
Do you have water around you that he could have come from possibly? I am just trying to establish if it is a water or land turtle.

QUESTION: Hi Tracie, i am sad to say that i am not to computer savy! i can send a pic
from my blackberry to an email, or my facebook or myspace but thats all. so i
dont know how i could get the photo to you. I have already taken several, it
sure is a beautiful little turtle. as far as water close to us, it is just a ditch with
water. i do know where a pond is a little farther away, if we come to the
conclusion that release is best that may be a good spot. i will try to send an
image.
AnswerHello Amy,
That is a very pretty turtle. I have not seen that type before. I will try to see if I can find that type by searching on the web. Do you think that you might keep him?
Here is my email: Drache613@cfl.rr.com
I will see if I can find out what kind of turtle that is. I saved the picture so I will see what I can do.
