leopard gecko skin peeling

Question
Hi, earlier today my brothers leopard gecko started shedding and she had torn dead skin so he peeled some of it off of her back and her legs and put her back. Will this hurt her? and will she peel the rest off?

Answer
If it's loose, it's fine, but if it's stuck, you shouldn't pull on it--you might damage the new skin underneath.  Apply water to loosen it, and don't remove until it comes off easily.  Make sure that the gecko has a humid hide, so it can retreat to a moist area to aid shedding.  If the shed is stuck. put the gecko on wet paper towel (in a warm place) for a half hour, and gently rub the affected areas until it comes off.  Stuck shed on the toes and tail tips can constrict, and cut off blood flow, causing the loss of the toes or tail tip, so it is important to inspect the gecko to be sure all of the skin has come off, after a shed.
