bearded dragon- does a mercury vapor bulb blind

can a UV mercury vapor bulb cause a central bearded dragon to go permanently blind.  because when i look at the mercury vapor bulb its blinding.

Hello Daniel, I am not sure about making anything go blind but it could damage his eyes although I don't know how strong their eyes are. If you feel its too bright and that it could be harmful then buy a different UV bulb. And remember that the bulbs are supposed to be replaced once a year because after a while they lose the UV effect. I hope I helped, sorry I don't have much information to tell you. But if you are really worried then get a different bulb. Although I am sure the sun is much brighter then the bulb. But it never hurts to be safe then sorry.
